Jesse’s path to acupuncture began with pre-med studies at Cornell University, but a ceramics apprenticeship in Japan shifted his focus. Living abroad and drawn to healthcare, he found himself more aligned with the principles of Eastern medicine. But that wasn’t the only reason. He witnessed family members struggle to find answers with traditional medicine and Jesse’s fascination with the holistic blend of medicine and philosophy that Eastern practices provided sparked his curiosity that the answers might just be in a different place.
He received his Masters from Northwestern Health Sciences University, interned at the Edith Davis Acupuncture Clinic, and held rotations at Pillsbury House and the Salvation Army. He furthered his training with advanced studies at Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. While proficient in various Chinese medicine modalities, including needling, cupping, Tui-Na massage, and herbal medicine, Jesse is certified in Wakefield facial acupuncture, a specialized technique for facial rejuvenation.
M.A. in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Magna Cum Laude, Northwestern Health Sciences University, 2012
“About once a week I work with people who come in, and they’ve been told that traditional medicine can’t help them anymore, that they should not expect improvement. Most of the time, we get improvement, and it makes such a difference in their quality of life.”
Jesse is Board Certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in Acupuncture and is licensed by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. He loves witnessing the positive transformations in his patients’ lives, particularly those who have been told traditional medicine offers no further help.
Outside of work, Jesse enjoys spending quality time with his wife and their children, exploring places like the zoo and museums, and coaching their sports teams. He plays soccer and ultimate frisbee, enjoys reading science fiction and fantasy, and loves learning about new topics, like music theory and storytelling. We also can’t forget that he’s a proud pet dad, caring for his family’s two cats, Lilo and Stitch, and their two dogs, Libby and Piccolo.
